On October 3rd 2026, I had the great pleasure of playing at the massive NetWork event at Void in Lichtenberg, Berlin, in the HotBox room for the Blasted crew.

I’m 46 now and I don’t play out very much any more (I think this was the first time in like a year?), so this was a very special treat. And it was amazing! My set was from two to three in the morning, and later I actually joined a special back to back session from 4:30 onwards with two other dj’s, Molecular Structures and D. Lamprecht, where we just vibed off each other’s selections for a while. By 5:30 I was really exhausted and got a cab home … honestly, staying up that late these days was a herculean effort anyways!

But it was an amazing experience, just hearing this records on a loud sound system was so awesome. There’s a physicality to bass music on a decent rig that you just cannot experience on headphones or on a home stereo.

Blasted is a long-running party, run by a Czech DJ named Agem (aka Martin Hyca). He’s been running underground drum and bass parties, usually in small venues, for many years now, and in fact the 12th birthday party is coming up on Halloween, with my friend Vali NME Click headlining. I’ve played for Agem a few times before, but this was the first time for probably five or six years, so when he approached me about playing at Void I was both surprised and pleased. Obviously the answer was yes!

In this post you will see that there are actually two mixes – one is the promo mix I did before the party, the other is my re-recording of my set on the night.

So let’s talk about the set! The HotBox is a small room, the smallest in the club, and the nice thing about playing a small room is that you don’t need a huge crowd to have a vibe going. With 20-30 people the place is packed! My set went really well. Honestly, I was fucking delighted with how it went. The theme of the room was 90’s to early 2000’s drum n’ bass, all vinyl, and for my set I specifically decided to go with 90’s techstep drum and bass, quite heavy stuff, all vinyl. I’ve always loved this sound and rarely had a chance to play it on a decent sound system, so I just grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

And phew! What an experience!

Hearing these tunes loud was really awesome, the sheer physicality of them was something special. The hour zipped by in a flash; there was a good-sized crowd in the room, people were dancing hard, and there was great feedback at the end: cheering, shaking hands, fistbumps. Just walking around the venue afterwards, I was bumping into people who told me they really enjoyed it, and it was awesome to vibe with the people.

Since I was so happy with the set, I decided to re-record it, and that’s what you have here. All killer, no filler.

The other mix is the promo mix I made for the party, which was a little bit of a themed one. It’s a 1996 to 1999 chronological mix, starting with 5 from 1996, then 5 from 1997, then 5 from 1998, and ending with 5 from 1999. There are some differences from what I ended up playing in the club, in that there are more jump-up tunes and more variation, and the only two tracks I played in both in the end were ‘System’ by Nemesis and ‘Cold Fusion’ by Future Forces Inc.

Finally, here are the tracks I played in the back-to-back set, just for the sake of completeness:

Dillinja – Unexplored Terrain [V Recordings]
Fortran – The End Part 2 [31 Recordings]
Nasty Habits – 4 Da Cause [Reinforced]
Decoder – Pushin’ [Ruffneck Ting]
Undercover Agent – Five Tones [Juice]
DJ Zinc – Dense [Parousia]
Roni Size – Brut Force [Full Cycle]
Elementz of Noize – Other Side of Town [SOUR]

I’m really happy with how it all went. It was a load of fun, and it made me think I need to bug promoters more often. If I could play out every couple of months, that would be great. Honestly, playing these records on a big sound system was super fun.

I hope you enjoy listening. I think the set turned out really well, and there are a lot of great tunes across both of these mixes.

More music soon!
