Didn’t I clearly state<\/a> several times that my next mix was going to be Cold World, a selection of classic darkside drum n’ bass tunes from the mid-90’s?<\/p>\n

Yes, I did. No question.<\/p>\n

So what’s this Pearsall’s Acid Test business, then?<\/p>\n

Well, as I mentioned in the post accompanying Inside The Crate (A Skream Tribute)<\/a>, I’ve recently switched to a new system of recording mixes, a process which has had some hiccups. Basically, I moved the decks into the living room, away from my desktop computer, so I’ve started using my netbook to record mixes. The one problem with this approach was that most of the recording would be fine, except for a few little skips where the audio cuts out for a fraction of a second. As anyone who heard Inside The Crate will have noticed, these skips are not a major problem, but they are a little bit of a surprise. When I recorded Cold World there were a number of these skips, maybe 6 or 7 in total – not enough to totally ruin the mix, but annoying enough that I decided that I needed to figure out how to stop these skips from occurring and then re-record Cold World.<\/p>\n

Having fussed around with various settings, I eventually figured that I had a pretty good idea of how to make sure that these little skips wouldn’t happen whilst recording a mix. However, because Cold World is over 70 minutes long, I thought that it would be a good idea to first do a shorter mix in order to properly test this new setup. Since I’ve been listening to Fil Devious’ fantastic Route Blaster<\/a> mix a lot recently, I thought that it would be nice to do a short London acid techno mix. Anyways, it’s been two years since Squat Rocking 3<\/a>, so it’s certainly due!<\/p>\n

Having made this decision, I quickly pulled out ten acid bangers and smashed them together. The results speak for themselves!<\/p>\n
